King update--After getting only two starts over the last month, goalie Byron Dafoe will now get the call with Stephane Fiset sidelined at least a week because of a groin/stomach injury. Fiset left after the first period of Saturday’s 4-1 loss at Vancouver. Dafoe played well in keeping the Canucks scoreless in the second period but gave up three goals in the third. Vitali Yachmenev had the Kings’ only goal against Vancouver. He and linemates Dimitri Khristich and Vladimir Tsyplakov have combined for 16 points over the last five games.

Ranger update--Niklas Sundstrom’s goal at 1:24 in overtime gave the Rangers a 5-4 victory over San Jose at Madison Square Garden on Monday. The win was only the Rangers’ second in their last 10 games. Tonight’s game will be the first of a three-game trip. Wayne Gretzky leads the league with 62 assists and has a team-high 79 points. Mark Messier is the top goal scorer with 33, followed by Adam Graves and Luc Robitaille, who both have 23.
