Bomb Threat Causes School’s Evacuation
Officials evacuated Ventura High School following an early-morning bomb threat Friday, authorities said.
No one was injured in the incident at the school at 2155 E. Main St., and police found no bomb.
Officials said the threat was made by phone about 8:50 a.m., while school was in session.
“We got a call from a young person, a male, who said a bomb would go off some time after that. We evacuated the entire school at the time it was supposed to go off, and had them go to secure places away from structures,” said Principal Hank Robertson.
Authorities searched for the device but none was found, Robertson said.
The evacuation was orderly, and after authorities determined there was no bomb, students and staff were allowed to return to the campus, he said.
Robertson said such threats are not uncommon. “I think we’ve had one or two of these things this year,” he said.
