Santa Margarita (18-1-3) vs. Manhattan Beach Mira Costa (26-2-2), Cerritos Gahr HS, 4 p.m.

For three years, Santa Margarita Coach Chuck Morales has had the most talented teams in the county. But until now, Santa Margarita had never made it to a Southern Section final. The Eagles had gone undefeated in Sea View League and were top-seeded in Division II, but that didn’t make things much easier. In the semifinals, Santa Margarita defeated last year’s other Division I co-champion, Mission Viejo, 2-0. Eagle goalkeeper Riki-Ann Serrins, bound for Maryland, has given up three goals all season and has 10 shutouts. Mira Costa, which advanced to the second round in Division II last season, is the Ocean League champion. It has outscored its four playoff opponents by a combined score of 13-1.
