Perhaps Warriors Are the Ones Who Lack Maturity

Rony Seikaly, who spent two gloomy years with the Golden State Warriors before demanding a trade, said he expected to hear boos when he returned to the Bay Area with the Orlando Magic, but he wasn’t prepared for what his former team had in mind.

The Warriors staged a “Baby Seikaly” skit during a timeout, their mascot wearing a Seikaly jersey as he crawled toward a giant feeding bottle. The “baby” then was locked in a box and thrown into a dumpster.

Neither the crowd nor Seikaly responded to the bit with even a shred of applause in the eerily silent arena.

That’s serious: For the first time in 14 years, King executive and former goaltending star Rogie Vachon recently put on his skates and pads to face some flying pucks at the Forum, preparing for part of the Kings’ 30th anniversary Saturday night when an alumni team will face a team of celebrities.

“I’ve cut down from two martinis a day to one,” Vachon said of his training regime.

Fair warning: Patrick Ewing wants an NBA championship ring, but more than that he wants it at the expense of Michael Jordan.

“I told Michael, when I win my championship for him to be there,” the New York Knick center said. “I don’t want anybody to say, ‘Well, you won it when Michael wasn’t here.’ So I want him to be here so that everybody knows that I kicked his [butt].”
