Two men were killed Saturday in a flaming wreck on the 118 Freeway when a truck rear-ended their car and it burst into flames after crashing into the center divider, authorities said.

The driver of the truck complained of shoulder pain and was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was in good condition, according to authorities.

The two dead men had not yet been identified, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said.

Investigators from the California Highway Patrol were still trying to determine late Saturday the cause of the accident and whether a crime was committed, according to Gary Goldenberg, a spokesman for the agency.

The accident occurred about 5:20 p.m. on the eastbound lanes just east of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The two men had been sitting in the front seat of the car and were pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said. No other injuries were reported.
