Police Target Speeders on Erbes Road

Share

After numerous complaints from residents about cars speeding on Erbes Road at La Granada Drive, the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s traffic bureau has designated the area its Traffic Tip of the Week.

Beginning today and continuing through Saturday, deputies will be on the lookout for cars traveling exceeding the 40 mph speed limit in the area, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Bailey. There are three schools in the area--Meadows Elementary School, First Baptist Academy Elementary School and First Baptist Academy Junior High School.

“This area has a high traffic flow during morning and evening weekday commuter times, and a high volume of children and pedestrian traffic during weekly school hours,” Bailey said.

Bailey said ongoing educational programs such as the Traffic Tip of the Week are intended to reduce traffic accidents in the city.

The traffic bureau also wants to reduce the number of abandoned cars in Thousand Oaks and has set up a new hot line residents can call to report vehicles that have been abandoned. The number is 371-8379.
