Ferraro Sitting on Pins and Needles

The Kings did not make any trades Sunday but they still might before Tuesday’s deadline. The player most often rumored to be involved has been center Ray Ferraro, who has said that he wants to play for a Stanley Cup contender.

“It’s out of my hands,” said Ferraro, who in his 13 seasons has never reached the Stanley Cup finals. “I would be lying if I said that I didn’t have some anxiety. We’ll just have to wait and see. Their decision is going to signify their direction. If they go for a couple of young guys or a player and a pick, that means they are going to stockpile kids.”

Last season, the Kings were in the playoff hunt until a nine-game winless streak in March. This season, their postseason push suffered a blow when the Kings were able to win only one game during their just concluded five-game homestand.

“You don’t have to be a genius to figure out what is going on here. We are not playing very well right now,” said winger Kevin Stevens.
