Wright Struggles but Stays Confident

Rookie center Lorenzen Wright, who played eight scoreless minutes against the Lakers, has missed eight shots in his last two games.

He missed all six of his shots in Sunday night’s 106-94 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, getting two points, two rebounds and two assists. Trail Blazer center Arvydas Sabonis made three of five shots and had six points, five rebounds and five assists.

Wright thinks he’ll get back on track in the Clippers’ final 19 games.

“I told you about Sabonis, he’s huge,” Wright said. “When you’re playing center as light as I am, it’s going to be a tough time for you every night. I just tried to come out and do the best I could. They’re playing the best ball in the West.

Since winning eight of 12 games last month, the Clippers have dropped seven of nine and shot a season-low 10% in the third quarter against Portland.

“You’re not going to beat many teams shooting 10% unless the other team shoots 9%,” Coach Bill Fitch said.
