COLLEGE NOTES
Cal State Fullerton has qualified for the NCAA Regional women’s gymnastics meet on the basis of its school-record score in the Big West Conference meet Saturday.
The Titans, who were third in the meet behind Boise State and Utah State, will compete in the regional April 5 at Boise, Idaho, but conference all-around champion Katy Maty probably will be sidelined because of a dislocated kneecap.
Maty was injured on the dismount of her final event, the balance beam. “I think it’s about 99 to 1 that she won’t be able to compete in the regional,” Titan Coach Lynn Rogers said Monday.
Fullerton was seventh among the seven teams qualifying for the regional. The Titans finished slightly ahead of UC Davis for the final spot.
