This guy could be a star in the Big West Conference at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he’ll have a chance to emerge from the shadow of the All-American Burgess. Averaged 15 points and seven rebounds on a court he had to share with his better-known classmate.

In one of the lower-profile league races, he kept the defending Empire champions on top. He averaged 16.2 points and 6.9 assists and just seemed to know what to do with the basketball. He was one of the top vote-getters among coaches in balloting for the all-county team.

He was everything he said he would be and more this season, leading Woodbridge to the Southern Section Division II-AA championship. He was named a McDonald’s All-American and is headed to Duke. Averaged 22.6 points, 12 rebounds and numerous slam dunks.

ISAIAH CAVACO

Villa Park

Chenowith drew most of the attention, but without Cavaco, Villa Park would never have reached the Division II-AA title game. He averaged 8.2 assists as point guard. A 78.4% free-throw shooter, he’s off to Yale where he, no doubt, will continue with heads-up basketball.

It’s difficult to be 7 feet 1 and not have everyone expect the world from you. But Chenowith, who is headed to Kansas, helped Villa Park to the Division II-AA title game. Averaged 19.6 points and a county-leading 16.1 rebounds. Named a McDonald’s All-American.

Calvary Chapel

Calvary Chapel ran a one-guard offense and Falconer was the man, helping the Eagles to the Southern Section Division IV and Southern California Division IV finals. He averaged 9.1 assists and made 78.1% of his free throws and 54 of 124 three-point tries.

Was the leader for Sonora, which advanced to the Southern Section Division II-A semifinals. Averaged 15.9 points and was one of the county’s better three-point shooters, making 45 of 99 attempts. Made 76.7% of his free throws. Led Raiders to a 10-0 league record.

Averaged 14 points and 10.6 rebounds and was also one of the county’s best shooters around the basket, making more than 60% of his field-goal attempts. He stepped up his performance a couple of levels in the playoffs too, and his jump-hook was hard to stop.

Brea Olinda set a school record with 20 consecutive wins and Wink, a big guard who could also get to the backboards, had a big hand in that. Third in the county in scoring (21-point average) and made 91 of 220 three-point tries, Wink Made 76% of his 100 free-throw attempts.
