Clipper update--They opened their most important trip of the season with a 103-88 point loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night. Guard Brent Barry, who missed Tuesday night’s six-point overtime victory over the Vancouver Grizzlies with lower back spasms, played 21 minutes against the Hawks, getting seven points, four rebounds and four assists.
Piston update--They’ve lost four of their last five games, including Wednesday night’s 105-94 loss at New York. The Pistons have held 61 of their 69 opponents under 100 points, but the last two, the Bulls and Knicks, scored over 100. The Pistons, who beat the Clippers, 91-85, on March 8 at the Sports Arena, have won the last four meetings in Detroit. Grant Hill leads the Pistons in points (21.0), rebounds (8.6), assists (7.0), steals (1.8) and minutes (39).
