Rough Translation: Shut Up and Pitch

Bill Plaschke thinks Hideo Nomo’s inability to speak fluent English is a problem [March 25], even though those who really matter--Nomo’s teammates, the organization’s management and Nomo himself--don’t think so. Most Dodger fans probably aren’t too upset with Nomo’s accomplishments either and are thankful they don’t have to listen to more cliche-ridden drivel from a star athlete.
If Plaschke really thinks this is an important issue, maybe he can devote an article to his own experience picking up Japanese in a couple of years during his stint as an award-winning sportswriter in Tokyo.
