This Land Is Your Land: The Animated Kids’ Songs of Woody Guthrie. Live Home Video, $12.98. 23 minutes. There’s a lot of great children’s music out there, but nothing outranks folk legend Woody Guthrie’s smiling tunes. “Take You Ridin’ in My Car-Car,” “Mail Myself to You,” “Jig Along Home” and others are on this colorfully animated video. Stories revolve around Guthrie’s recordings of his child-pleasing songs. Although the animation is mostly unexceptional, painted backgrounds add dimension, and a tribute to life and renewal, based on Guthrie’s “Grassey, Grass, Grass,” is exquisitely rendered.

Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Sing-Along & Stories. Britt Allcroft Co./Anchor Bay Entertainment. $12.98 (gift set with wooden train whistle, $16.98). 35 minutes. This video, featuring the voices of a children’s chorus and a bouncing puff of steam to highlight the on-screen lyrics, is a first for the Thomas series. Thomas, Sir Handel, Duke, Toby the Tram Engine and lots of other train pals, set amid delightful model landscapes, act out songs such as “Gone Fishing” and “Let’s Have a Race.” Also, George Carlin narrates two stories, “Peter Sam and the Refreshment Lady” and “Bulldog.”

Sesame Street: Sing Yourself Sillier at the Movies. Sony Wonder. $12.98. 30 minutes. Telly and Oscar, the Siskel and Ebert of Muppetdom, offer “Sneak Peek Previews” at musical scenes from “movies” (actually from “Sesame Street”) and rate them with a “wow” or a “phooey.” Oscar says “phooey” to “Eight Balls of Fur,” “Mr. Between” and the chicken opera “Il Alphabetto.” Telly loves everything in this fun half-hour.

A Day With Farmer Sam. Green Meadows Productions, $19.95. (800) 493-3275; (800) 223-7672. 45 minutes. This educational farm visit, peppered with pleasant original songs and puppet appearances, is nicely done, after a lengthy introduction aimed at parents and teachers. Farmer Sam (Samantha Keyes) introduces all manner of useful and interesting beasties at Green Meadows Farm (there are two of these show-and-tell farms in Southern California). Although the length of Keyes fingernails detracts from her “farmer” persona (and makes you a bit anxious for Daisy at milking time), she is a warm and enthusiastic host.
