LAKERS TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--San Antonio Spurs.

Site--Forum.

Time--7:30.

TV--Fox Sports West.

Radio--KLAC (570), KWKW (1330).

Records--Lakers 50-23, Spurs 18-54.

Record vs. Spurs--2-1.

Laker update--They are going for a sixth consecutive victory, which would tie a season high. They also have won 10 of their last 13 despite struggling with their shooting. The counter is that they have averaged only 12.3 turnovers the last 11 games, most recently with 10 Wednesday against Denver and 11 the night before at Seattle. The Tuesday showing was especially impressive considering the SuperSonics lead the league in forcing turnovers. Nick Van Exel committed two in 43 minutes.

Spur update--For a change, someone has gotten healthy, or at least healthy enough. Charles Smith, after sitting out 59 games because of a knee problem, is back and coming off the bench. The Spurs’ disaster of a season can’t end soon enough, but they’re also capable of causing problems for teams fighting for playoff positioning, having beaten Orlando and Cleveland within the last four games.
