Oxnard’s Davis Runs Like Wind to 10.5 in 100


Oxnard High junior Desmond Davis was clocked in a wind-aided 10.5 seconds in the 100 meters in a Channel League triangular meet Thursday at Rio Mesa.

Rio Mesa scored 116 points to beat the Yellowjackets (52) and Hueneme (18).

Courtney Palmore of Oxnard won the 200 meters in 22.2.


Glendale 12, Hoover 6--Ji Chung recorded three victories for the Dynamiters (10-0, 2-0), including a 6-2 decision over two-time defending league singles champion Danny Kim, in a Pacific League match at Glendale.

Granada Hills 7, San Fernando 0--Nos. 3 and 4 singles players Matt Weiss and Steve Ishoo swept their opponents by 6-0 scores and No. 1 player Evan Press won, 6-0, 6-1, for the Highlanders (5-0, 4-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Granada Hills.


Monroe 7, Grant 0--The Vikings (6-1, 4-0) recorded their sixth shutout in seven matches in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Monroe.

Mark Ranches, Monroe’s top singles player, improved to 6-1.


Canoga Park d. North Hollywood 12-15, 15-13, 15-13, 15-6--Sophomore middle blocker Philip Mramor had 16 kills, seven blocks and five aces for the Hunters (5-1, 3-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Canoga Park.

Grant d. Monroe, 15-13, 9-15, 15-10, 13-15, 15-4--Eric Gallarza had 36 kills, Nathan Beck had 11 blocks and Josh Miller had 65 assists for the Lancers (5-1, 2-1) in a 2 1/2-hour Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Monroe (2-1 in conference play).


Westlake 385, Nordhoff 386--J.T. Kohut and Jason Park each shot one-under-par 71 for the Warriors (12-3) in a nonleague match at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai. Jeff Coburn and Shawn Andrews each shot 74 for the Rangers (11-1).

Valencia 341, Saugus 355--Medalist Glenn Buck shot a four-over-par 65 for the Vikings (13-8) in a nonleague match at Vista Valencia Golf Course.
