Why More Airport Parking?

Share

Is it only me or does anyone else find it interesting that the Board of Supervisors approved the addition of 1,962 new parking spaces at John Wayne Airport?

I was under the impression that a new airport had been voted on by the electorate and El Toro would become a new commercial airport after the Marines vacate the base.

This would be the same time that the south side of the parking structure would be completed. Whether the new airport at El Toro is ever built, wouldn’t it be in the best interest to wait and see the outcome of the legal challenges before spending $27.6 million for a parking structure that would become obsolete and a white elephant?

* Call me a cynic, but I think the El Toro airport is a done deal. And has been all along.

However, if I am wrong and the decision has not been made one way or the other, will someone please explain why the county supervisors approved a $27.6-million project to add parking spaces at John Wayne Airport (March 19)?
