Dollas and Rychel Are Back in Action

Defenseman Bobby Dollas played for the first time since his bout with chickenpox, and winger Warren Rychel returned after three games as a healthy scratch.

Dollas, still regaining his strength, played considerably less than usual. His club-record streak of 159 consecutive appearances was ended by the three games he missed, but he still has played in 282 of the 295 games in Duck history.

Rychel replaced rookie Mike Leclerc after missing several games because Coach Ron Wilson was unhappy with his performance, saying he needed to take fewer penalties.

Paul Kariya said his bothersome sore groin is “better” and he thinks he can be 100% for the playoffs since he’ll have sufficient time to treat the injury before the first playoff game Wednesday or Thursday. . . . Defenseman Milos Holan, who is in remission and has begun skating more than a year after undergoing a bone-marrow transplant to treat his leukemia, is the Duck nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded by the Professional Hockey Writers Assn. to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication.
