Classic shape gets a twist of Art Deco glamour in the Klismos occasional chair by design director John Hutton for Donghia.

The generously sculpted wood back gently embraces the sitter, offering comfort and elegance.

The bentwood maple back, available in 13 finishes, is one continuous piece that flows down to the gracefully tapered legs, reminiscent of the furniture designs of Paris in the 1930s.

The upholstered seat, which takes only one yard of fabric, is sleekly proportioned but cut low for a salon-style look.

The chair ($2,335) is 22 inches wide, 26 inches deep and 30 inches tall.

It is available through the Donghia showroom at the Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. Call (310) 657-6060 or (800) 366-4442.

Stir It Up

Mix a little fashion and function into your next dish with Le Creuset’s newest line of cooking accessories, Spatulas.

The colors--red, blue, green, saffron and white--complement Le Creuset’s cook-and-serve ware. The spatulas, made of medical-grade silicon, are virtually indestructible. They will never melt, burn or absorb odors and flavors.

The colors also will not fade, no matter how many times you burn the soup.

Spatulas ($6 and $7) come in two sizes, small (9 1/4 inches by 1 1/2 inches) and mid-size (10 3/4 inches and 2 inches); the spoon spatula ($7) is ideal for bowl-scraping or stew-stirring.

They are available at department stores and specialty cooking stores throughout Orange County.

Quick Stand

Skil’s table-saw stand can handle most heavy-duty jobs.

The lightweight stand is designed to give most bench-top table saws the capacity of a full-sized stationary tool.

For instance, the stand increases the saw’s ripping capacity from 12 inches to more than 25 inches, so you can easily cut 4-foot-by-8-foot stock in half.

The stand (about $170) has folding legs for easy moving and storage, a heavy steel fence, a cut line indicator and adjustable feet for a level working surface.

The saw does not need to be removed from the stand when it is folded up, making it easy and quick to set things up.

The table-saw stand is available at home centers throughout the county.
