Decision Expected on School Boundaries

Share

Attendance boundary changes that would affect more than 640 students will be considered next week by Huntington Beach City School District board members.

Trustees have expressed support for one of three scenarios presented by a parents boundary realignment committee. Under the plan, most of the students to be transferred would go to Peterson Elementary School, which the district has decided to reopen this fall.

The district, like others across Orange County, is redrawing boundaries to take advantage of a state incentive that pays schools $650 for each primary-grade student in a class of no more than 20.

Supt. Duane Dishno said the scenario trustees are expected to approve reflects the district’s neighborhood schools concept.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the District Education Center, 20451 Craimer Lane.
