49ers Split Softball Doubleheader With Sacramento State

Long Beach State split a Big West Conference softball doubleheader with Sacramento State Friday in Sacramento. The 49ers won the first game, 2-1, and lost the second, 1-0.

In the first game, Deidra Oliver drove in the winning run with an RBI double in the seventh inning for Long Beach (31-14-1, 13-7 in conference).

In the second game, Long Beach’s Tammy Dietrich had a no-hitter through five innings before giving up two hits and an earned run in the bottom of the sixth, giving Sacramento (23-17-1, 8-8) the split.

Jessie Martinez had four hits in the doubleheader for Long Beach.

In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:

Long Beach State 3, Loyola Marymount 0--Gaby Amar had 16 kills, Geoff Cryst added 15, and setter Chris Seiffert had 44 assists for the 49ers (18-9, 11-7), who won, 15-10, 15-11, 15-5. Tom Dixon had 11 kills for Loyola Marymount (5-16, 4-15).
