Man, 22, Dies in Drive-By Attack
A 22-year-old man died Friday of a gunshot wound to the chest in what police are calling a gang-related drive-by attack.
Joseph H. Muniz was being chased down West St. Gertrude Street by people riding in a dark, compact car about 6:45 p.m. when he and his pursuers exchanged gunfire, Santa Ana Police Sgt. Jim McDaniel said.
Muniz, whom police identified as a gang member, was hit in the chest and walked into a carport behind an apartment complex in the 1300 block of the street, where he died.
Police are searching for the occupants of the car.
