Pedro Cervantes’ two-out single scored Jess Sanchez from third base in the top of the seventh inning and gave Hueneme High a 5-4 victory over San Marcos in a Channel League baseball game Friday in Santa Barbara.

With the score tied, 4-4, the Vikings (12-4, 6-0 in league play) opened the seventh with two strikeouts. But Sanchez reached on an error and stole second and third.

“My stomach was churning the whole game,” said Hueneme Coach Reg Welker, whose team last won a Channel League title in 1981. “It was ulcer time.”
