Opinion asked designers, artists and architects how the land in Chavez Ravine should be used:
I smell something terrible. Whoever buys the Dodgers may do any number of things with the surrounding area, excluding nothing. I suspect that some kind of growth will be triggered. I would hope that economics would not be the cause of irreparable damage.
I am not naive: Tax structures, greed and economic reality have destroyed great architecture and millions of acres of beautiful landscape. The insatiable need for a CityWalk with a Hard Rock Cafe and some rides is the terrible thing that I smell. I would hope that this area can be left as it is, or improved with some gentle landscaping, including paths and picnic areas.
