Armin T. Wegner

* “Exhibit Captures Horror of Armenian Genocide” (April 16) mentions the name of Armin T. Wegner, whose photographs are included. I was privileged to meet this unusual German, who was in the Southland some 20 years ago. He was such an Armenophile that he said that his name, Armin, was another form of the Armenian man’s name, Armen.

When my sister and I visited his widow, a dedicated artist, about a decade ago in Rome, she related the many occasions when the Armenian communities in Europe paid tribute to Wegner’s achievements. And I learned recently that his body was transferred to the Republic of Armenia for burial among the great individuals who labored on behalf of Armenia.
