This 1946 classic was Francois Truffaut’s nominee for the best of all Hitchcocks: a spy thriller with excruciating erotic and psychological undercurrents. Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman (both pictured) and Claude Rains--as three spies at cross-purposes in Rio de Janeiro--form one of the screen’s immortal triangles; Grant and Bergman’s one-take hotel smooching scene was considered a record-breaker. Written by Ben Hecht (AMC Sunday at 11 a.m. and Monday at 12:45 a.m.).
