Baring an Injustice to Farrah

Share

Exposure is everything. Farrah Fawcett was recently raked over the media coals because of her somewhat vague and unsteady appearances in N.Y.C., promoting her nude Playboy projects. She claimed fatigue. Her ex-manager claimed it was all an act, inspired at his suggestion. Others say other things.

But here’s what’s interesting: The other night I was watching the great actress Jessica Lange on the Bravo network’s “Inside the Actor’s Studio” series. Lange seemed as fidgety, fatigued, insecure and “out of it” as Farrah. But Lange was talking capital-A Acting, whereas Fawcett was promoting the naked glory of her 50-year-old body--on “Late Show With David Letterman.”

I think if Farrah had been plugging, say, an appearance on Broadway, in Ibsen, she might not have suffered such media censure.

Brigitte Bardot’s second hubby, and the father of her only child, Jacques Charrier, is super-steamed about BB’s recent memoirs, published in France. He has written a rebuttal to Bardot’s version, titled “My Answer to BB.” In response to Bardot’s charge that Charrier was a violent super-macho, he says she never wanted a baby and told him she preferred dogs to kids: “They’re faithful, obedient and never answer back.” Whatever--the great sex kitten didn’t raise her child, and has devoted the last 25 years to animal rights--with one last husband, to come, thrown in.
