Fire Spurs Apartment Evacuation
CANYON COUNTRY —
A 60-unit apartment complex was evacuated Tuesday as a brush fire blackened 10 acres of a hillside north of Canyon High School.
Three water-dropping helicopters and 50 firefighters put out the blaze within 30 minutes, said Capt. Ron Watson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire, reported at 1:30 p.m., came within 100 yards of the complex at 19101 Nadal St. No structures were damaged and there were no injuries.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
