Baicher, Lozzano Each Get Two Goals in San Jose’s Win

Jeff Baicher and Lawrence Lozzano each scored two goals as the San Jose Clash routed the New England Revolution, 5-1, on Sunday in front of 22,673 at Foxboro (Mass.) Stadium.

Michael Emenalo also scored for the Clash (8-15). Imad Baba scored for the Revolution (12-10), which was coming off a 4-3 overtime loss Friday night to the A-League’s Long Island Rough Riders in a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal.

Tampa Bay 3, New York/New Jersey 2--Gilmar had two goals and an assist as the Mutiny edged the MetroStars in front of 15,650 at Giants Stadium.

Roy Lassiter scored his eighth goal for Tampa Bay, which improved to 13-10 with its third victory in a row and sixth in eight games. Antony De Avila scored both MetroStar goals.

It was the first MLS game of the season played on artificial turf. The New York Jets’ NFL exhibition game against Philadelphia on Saturday night did not give the MetroStars (7-13) time to set up their grass field.
