Federal Employees Group Holds Charity Picnic
More than 275 people, most of them children, were the beneficiaries Tuesday of a picnic sponsored by a federal employees group at the West Los Angeles Veterans Administration.
The 14th annual picnic, held on a baseball diamond on the VA campus, was sponsored by the Combined Federal Campaign, which coordinates an annual charity drive among 67,000 federal employees within Los Angeles County, said campaign spokesman Mark Lee.
This year’s campaign will begin Oct. 1, he said. The drive is expected to raise $3.5 million for local charities.
Tuesday’s event included a barbecue lunch, games and a chance for children from 15 local youth agencies to experiment with a flight simulator provided by the Federal Aviation Administration.
