Azzahir Ali Hakim, Lonny Rochad Mitchell, Tyrone Curtis Evans and Damon Carter will be released from custody, according to Gayle Falkenthal, a spokeswoman for the San Diego District Attorney’s office, who said their $1-million bail would be exonerated. The evidence in question concerned DNA and the investigation will continue. . . . Former Oklahoma coach Howard Schnellenberger is named in a lawsuit filed by a player who suffered a heat stroke in August 1995. In addition to physical injuries, Ailey said he suffered emotional injuries and eventually had to withdraw from school. The lawsuit, filed in Cleveland County District Court, also names the university as a defendant. . . . Nebraska running back Jay Sims will be sidelined for three to four weeks and miss the opener because of a strained ligament in his right knee suffered during a scrimmage.
