Marinovich Fails to Appear So Arrest Warrant Is Issued

A judge issued a bench warrant Thursday but agreed to withhold it for a week after former USC and Raider quarterback Todd Marinovich failed to show up in court on drug charges, a court clerk said.

The judge warned the warrant will be issued if Marinovich does not show up Aug. 21 in connection with a felony charge of marijuana cultivation and two drug-related misdemeanors.

Marinovich, 27, was scheduled for a pretrial hearing Thursday in South Orange County Municipal Court in Laguna Niguel, but didn’t appear.

His attorney, Gary Pohlson, also was not in court Thursday and could not be reached for comment.

Marinovich was arrested March 24 after authorities said they were called to his Dana Point home to help one of his friends, who was unconscious.

Authorities said they found a marijuana plant, a bag of marijuana and a syringe at Marinovich’s home, in addition to prescription medicine not in the defendant’s name.
