Storm Moving North Could Bring Rain
A tropical depression slowly working its way north from Mexico could bring rare summer rain or even thundershowers to parts of Ventura County today, according to the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
The storm, named Ignacio, was located about 400 miles south-southwest of California, said Stuart Seto, a Weather Service specialist.
“It’s still moving north, but it’s pretty weak,” Seto said.
“The main threat it holds for our area is a lot of extra moisture, which will bring more clouds and a chance of rain.”
Seto predicted a 30% chance of rain today and a possible increase in surf levels.
He predicted that up to .3 inch could fall in parts of the county.
“These storms don’t usually make it this far up the coast,” he said. “The water is too cold.
“But this one may have some effect on the area.”
