Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Port Hueneme men on suspicion of auto theft early Monday morning, after they allegedly crashed a stolen van into the side of a house and then ran away, authorities said.

At 3:22 a.m., the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of an auto theft in the 300 block of Capri Drive, near Sinaloa Golf Course.

About 10 minutes later, a white Dodge van matching the description of the stolen vehicle crashed into a home in the 600 block of Bluegrass Street in Simi Valley, about 1 1/2 miles south of Capri Drive, Sgt. Adel Moussa said.

No one inside the house was injured, and the driver and his passenger fled on foot, Moussa said.

Simi Valley police officers assisted deputies in the search, and at 4:50 a.m. Officer Mark Rendahl and his canine partner Cero located two men near the intersection of Bluegrass Street and Sinaloa Road.

Toby Jennings Clark, 19, and Daniel Macfarlane, 19, both of Port Hueneme, were taken into custody without incident and booked at the East Valley Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of auto theft, Moussa said.
