Yearly Christmas Walk Postponed 1 Week

For the first time in its 21-year history, the Corona del Mar Christmas Walk, originally set for Sunday, has been postponed, due to expected El Nino-related rains.

“We have had drizzle. We have had overcast skies. But we have never had rain,” said Royal Radtke, executive director of the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce.

The annual walk along East Coast Highway isn’t the kind of event, Radtke said, that would draw many people in bad weather.

Typically, thousands of visitors stroll through the heart of Corona del Mar to see the Christmas wares vendors have on display. At every parking lot along the way, there are bands and games for children.

Radtke said the Christmas Walk will be held one week later, on Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.--weather permitting.
