Free Sandbags Offered to County Residents
- Share via
Residents hoping to stem flooding from further El Nino-related storms can get free sandbags from the Orange County Fire Authority.
The sandbags are available at most of the county’s 61 fire stations but are only for residents served by the Fire Authority: in unincorporated Orange County, Buena Park, Cypress, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Mission Viejo, Placentia, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park and Westminster.
The Fire Authority is offering 30 bags per person, and proof of residency may be required.
For information about which stations have bags and sand, call (714) 744-0496 or (714) 834-4074.
Residents in other areas should contact their local fire departments and are reminded not to call 911 for sandbag information. The Orange County Flood Control Center, 10852 Douglass Road, Anaheim, is offering 50 free bags per county resident. Sand is not provided. Call (714) 567-6300.
