Residents Near Deal on Mobile Home Park

Capistrano Terrace Mobile Home Park residents are steps away from owning the land that houses their coaches.
“Most mobile home residents would like to own their own park and control the management,” said Mary Rose Winkler, one of 150 park residents. “We spoke to the owner and he agreed to sell it to us.”
City officials, in an effort to help park residents maintain affordable housing, are recommending that the City Council on Tuesday approve a $25,000 to $30,000 study to address needed infrastructure repairs at the 40-year-old park.
The Capistrano Terrace Homeowners Assn. also wants the city to lend its tax exempt status to Limited Income Corp. The housing corporation would then acquire bonds to buy the 18-acre park.
“When we own it free and clear we will deed it to the residents,” said Hunter Johnson, president of the corporation.
Residents would repay the bond with monthly rental payments.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m., 32400 Paseo Adelanto.
