First Pup Gets First Look at White House

WASHINGTON — President Clinton’s new puppy moved into the White House on Sunday.
“He’s here to stay,” White House spokesman Barry Toiv said.
The chocolate-colored Labrador puppy, a gift from a friend of Clinton’s, arrived in the back of a car.
After the dog was unloaded and leashed, Clinton could be seen taking him for a brief stroll in front of the portico at the White House south entrance.
Later, the dog took a ride in the presidential limousine. He accompanied the president to a holiday reception hosted by Robert S. Bennett, Clinton’s attorney. White House aides walked the dog down a Washington street while Clinton attended the party.
The 3-month-old dog remains unnamed, though Americans have offered Clinton a flood of suggestions.
