St. Francis 92, Long Beach State 83--Henry Lalane’s 28-foot basket with 1:31 to play in overtime pushed St. Francis to the victory before 1,939 at the Pyramid.

St. Francis (5-3) made 10 of 20 three-point shots.

Anthony Rogers had the only other St. Francis basket in the extra period, but the Terriers made 10 of 12 free throws to clinch the game.

The 49ers (3-5) had struggled back from a 10-point deficit by finishing regulation play with a 15-5 run to a 77-77 tie.

The final points in the sprint came from Quincy Nuckles, who inbounded the ball, swung around the other nine players and got it back from Grant Stone, 24 feet from the basket, from which he launched a three-point shot with 19.4 seconds to play to bring on that brought on the overtime.

Long Beach held the Terriers to a single field goal and turned up the defensive pressure over the final 3:47 of regulation.

The 49ers then made only two of 10 overtime shots.

After trailing in the second half by as many as 13 points, Long Beach began its return with David Egans’ six-foot bank shot.

Nuckles had six of the 15 points on the run, making two three-pointers, and D’Cean (cq) Bryant’s three-point play brought Long Beach to within 75-74.

Bryant and Nuckles finished with 23 points each, both highs for their careers.
