Lightning, Blues All Tied Up

Dino Ciccarelli scored his second goal of the game with 37.7 seconds left in regulation to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 2-2 tie with the St. Louis Blues on Monday night at Tampa Bay.

The right wing redirected Roman Hamrlik’s drive past goalie Grant Fuhr, helping Tampa Bay tie a franchise record with an eight-game home unbeaten streak. The Lighting is 4-0-4 during the streak.

Brett Hull gave the Blues a 2-1 lead in the second period. It was Hull’s 544th goal, tying former Montreal standout Maurice Richard for 16th on the career list.

Detroit 4, Boston 2--Anders Eriksson had a goal and an assist and Chris Osgood made 33 saves at Boston as the Red Wings defeated the Bruins for the ninth consecutive time.

Joe Kocur, Darren McCarty and Nicklas Lidstrom also scored for the Red Wings.

Dmitri Khristich and Jason Allison scored for the Bruins, who are 0-3-1 in their last four games.

Edmonton 3, Montreal 3--Ryan Smyth scored with 10 seconds left in regulation to help the Oilers earn a point against the Canadiens at Montreal.

With Oiler goalie Bob Essensa off for an extra attacker, Smyth came from behind the net to stuff Jason Arnott’s rebound past goalie Jocelyn Thibault.

Doug Weight had two goals for the Oilers. Scott Thornton, Brian Savage and Vince Damphousse scored for the Canadiens.

Ottawa 4, N.Y. Islanders 1--Andreas Dackell had a goal and an assist at Uniondale, N.Y., as the Senators continued their road mastery of the Islanders.

Ron Tugnett had 14 saves and the Senators improved to 4-0-1 in their last five visits to Nassau Coliseum.

Sergei Zholtok, Lance Pitlick and Alexei Yashin also scored for Ottawa. Zigmund Palffy scored for New York.
