Corona del Mar Assn. Backs City on Police
- Share via
The Corona del Mar Residents Assn. has decided to support Newport Beach in its contract negotiations with the Newport Beach Police Employees Assn.
The police officers union rejected the city’s “last, best and final” contract offer in February. That proposal would have included a 5.63% pay raise.
Negotiations have been at an impasse ever since, and the police have asked several civic groups for their support.
But members of the Corona del Mar Residents Assn. said they felt the city’s offer was generous.
The board of the homeowners association noted that police have received increases totaling more than 11% over the past three years. They also noted that the offer would have made Newport Beach police the second-highest paid in the county.
