Over the weekend, Minnie Pepito, 27, of Concord, Calif., became Disneyland’s 400 millionth guest since the Anaheim amusement park opened July 17, 1955. She was welcomed by Mickey Mouse and whisked off to lunch at an exclusive members-only restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. Pepito and her family, who passed through the Disneyland turnstiles at 9:12 a.m. Saturday, will receive a lifetime pass and a $1,000 park shopping spree. They also are invited to attend the park’s reopening of Tomorrowland, scheduled for spring 1998.

“Thrill Ride--The Science of Fun,” an Imax 2-D movie, will have its premiere tonight at the Edwards 21 Megaplex in Irvine in a fund-raiser for three local charities. The movie takes viewers on roller-coaster rides and such theme-park attractions as Disneyland’s Star Tours (which incorporates film footage to simulate high-speed travel) and shows how such thrill rides were developed from NASA spaceflight training programs. Tickets are $50 for the 7:30 p.m. screening, preceded by a champagne reception at the Irvine Spectrum’s Wolfgang Puck Cafe; $100 for the reception, screening and dinner at the Spectrum’s P.F. Chang’s China Bistro. Proceeds benefit Childhelp USA, the Olive Crest Homes and Services for Abused Children and the Orangewood Childrens Foundation. (213) 655-1547.
