Brother Tom Keegan; Bishop Mora Salesian High School Coach
Brother Tom Keegan, 78, popular coach, teacher and administrator in East Los Angeles. Keegan, a native of Linden, N.J., worked in a steel drum factory, the Civilian Conservation Corps and a chemical plant before he was inducted into the Army during World War II. Later working at a Salt Lake City hospital, he heard about and decided to join the Salesians of St. John Bosco. He was a member of the original staff of Bishop Mora Salesian High School in East Los Angeles when it opened in 1958. Except for one three-year leave, he remained on the staff until his death, earning special praise for his work as cross-country coach and as manager of the school’s physical plant. The Salesians have asked that memorial donations be made to the Brother Tom Keegan Scholarship Fund. On July 1 in East Los Angeles of a heart attack.
