Lifelong Ventura resident Erika Angelica Gonzalez died Wednesday in an automobile accident on California 126 in Ventura. She was 18.
She was born Oct. 12, 1978, in Ventura.
Gonzalez was a 1996 graduate of Ventura High School, where she was a member of the pageantry team. She was enrolled at Ventura College and worked as a server at 101 Latte Cafe in Ventura.
Gonzalez was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church of Ventura and was also involved with the Horizon Generation, a group at the Horizon Foursquare Church. She enjoyed working out, dancing, singing with friends in local pop bands as well as camping and hiking.
Her special interest was photography, said her mother, Elena Gonzalez.
“Nothing but friends,” she said of the subject matter her daughter loved to photograph. “She took two to three rolls a week. She just enjoyed taking pictures of all the good times she had.”
In addition to her mother, survivors include her father, Jesus Gonzalez; brother, Daniel Gonzalez of Ventura, and numerous other relatives.
Visitation is scheduled between noon and 6 p.m. Saturday at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church with Rev. Larry Dowdel officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
