Leadership Academy Picks New Steering Panel Chief

The Ventura County Leadership Academy, a program sponsored by the United Way of Ventura County to develop community leaders, has installed Mary Kaiser of Agoura as head of its steering committee.

Kaiser, who has served on the committee since 1994, is a member of the board of directors of United Way. Assisting her is Cathy Crocco of Thousand Oaks, first vice president responsible for development and fund-raising activities; and Florence LaManno of Camarillo, second vice president. Lisa Gordon of Oxnard is the leadership alumni representative.

Newly elected to the academy’s steering committee are David Keith of Oxnard and Rudy Gonzales of Thousand Oaks. They join the other 20 members of the steering committee, which acts as a board of directors in overseeing academy operations.

The academy also has the support of a newly formed advisory board consisting of Bettina Chandler of Ojai, Carol Keochekian of Thousand Oaks, Kate McLean of Camarillo, Homer Nottingham of Oxnard and former steering committee members Marc Charney of Oxnard, Tim Gallagher of Ventura, Oxnard Police Chief Harold Hurtt, Carol Hurtt of Oxnard, John Katch of Thousand Oaks, Jan Rozanski of Camarillo and County Supervisor Kathy Long of Camarillo.

The academy was established to develop leaders who will enhance the quality of life in Ventura County. Information about its courses is available from Harry Lee, executive director, at 485-6288, Ext. 260.
