The board of the Balboa Theater Foundation has scheduled three events to pay for the renovation of the vintage movie house on the city’s Balboa Peninsula.

The foundation is projecting a cost of about $1.3 million to renovate the 1927 theater, which closed in 1992.

On July 30, the group will sponsor a two-hour Newport Harbor cruise featuring dinner and live music on board the Catalina Flyer.
