2 Arrested in Slayings of Mother, Daughter

Two alleged gang members were arrested Tuesday in the deaths of Laura Reyes and her 3-year-old daughter, Celeste, who were killed by a single stray bullet as they sat in the living room of their east Rancho Dominguez home May 8.
Eli Arana, 18, and Doni Veliz, 19, who allegedly belong to a Compton gang, were arrested in Compton on Tuesday morning in connection with the slayings, Sheriff’s Deputy Bob Killeen said.
Reyes, 28, and her daughter died when two men sprayed gunfire into the quiet neighborhood.
Arana and Veliz are being held without bail.
