Expo Rookie Tops Marlins
Rookie Dustin Hermanson allowed only five singles for his first shutout as the Montreal Expos defeated the Florida Marlins, 5-0, Tuesday night.
Hermanson (4-4) walked none and struck out a season-high nine against his former team. The 24-year-old right-hander faced only three batters over the minimum and didn’t allow a runner to reach second as he won for the first time in a month.
Montreal started its scoring with a run in the fifth, with the help of a Florida error. Mike Lansing singled to open the inning. With one out, David Segui grounded to third. Bobby Bonilla charged the ball, it went off his glove and Lansing later came home on a single by Henry Rodriguez.
