A 30-year-old Oxnard man, already serving time at the California State Prison in Lancaster, will face charges in the robbery of a Port Hueneme bank in January.

Danny Martinez was arrested at the prison by FBI agents July 10 and taken to the Municipal Detention Center in Los Angeles, said Gary Auer, supervising agent of the FBI’s office in Ventura.

Martinez is a suspect in the robbery of the California Federal Savings Bank at 739 W. Channel Islands Blvd. on Jan. 13.

Witnesses and tellers described a man fitting Martinez’s description who used a note to demand money from the bank teller. The note indicated that he had a gun, but no gun was ever shown. The robber was last seen riding away in a silver Toyota driven by another man.

Agents tracked Martinez down through descriptions of the car, officials said.

He is set to be arraigned in federal court on bank robbery charges Aug. 4.
