Soundproofing Agency Unveils Its New Office

A new airport-operated agency in Westchester called the LAX Residential Soundproofing Bureau held a grand opening this week to show off its new office, which will administer a multimillion-dollar program to soundproof 8,900 homes in the Westchester, Playa del Rey and South-Central Los Angeles areas.

The office, at 8939 S. Sepulveda Blvd., displays acoustic doors and windows that can be used to make a home quieter. There are also advisors to inform Los Angeles residents about the program. The soundproofing is free to anyone whose home in these three areas has noise levels from aircraft exceeding 65 decibels.

Los Angeles World Airports, responsible for the soundproofing, has embarked on the first phase of a seven-year project in which about $15 million has been allocated to soundproof multiple-family dwellings east of the airport and in other areas. For information, call (310) 646-7444.
