Police responding to gunshots fired from a car in Woodbridge exchanged fire with the suspects Friday night and arrested two people, as they launched a neighborhood search for other suspects.

Police said about 9 p.m., officers heard two people in a car fire at several others at Yale Loop and Misty Run. The officers followed the car and stopped it. The suspects then fired at the officers but did not him them, police said. Police returned fire, also not hitting the suspects. The men in the car were arrested.

Meanwhile, the people on the corner fled, police said.

About 30 officers began a door-to-door search for those who had scattered, police said. By late Friday night, no one else had been arrested.

Police said they recovered a gun from the car.

Officers don’t believe anyone on the street corner was injured. They do not know if the suspects or those who fled are gang members.
